Eye Care Services

Primary Vision Care

Our practice is dedicated to maintaining the overall health of your eyes. We do more than just check whether you need glasses or contact lenses. An annual visit to your optometrist is an important part of preventative eye care, and can also help detect early signs of diseases including diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Eye diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma can be present without any symptoms, yet permanent damage to the eye may have already occurred. Early detection is the key to maintaining a lifetime of clear vision.
Dr. Swan prides herself in providing thorough vision exams and always welcomes any questions or concern you may have about your vision.

Vision Care for Children

Dr. Swan provides comprehensive vision care for children three years of age and older. It is very important your child’s vision be evaluated at a young age to ensure a vision problem does not go undetected. Children with uncorrected vision conditions or eye health problems face many barriers in life – academically, socially, and aesthetically. Special tests are available for children to test their depth perception, color vision, and visual acuity even when the child is too young to read. Eighty percent of learning is through vision, so make sure your child has the best possible tools to learn successfully.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Disease and Infections

Optometrists are considered as primary care physicians for the eyes, and
Dr. Swan is licensed to co-manage open angle glaucoma, perform pre-operative and post-operative care for cataract surgery, and treat eye infections such conjunctivitis ( “ pink eye” ). She also provides treatment for dry eyes, allergic eye disease, and viral infections.

Laser Vision Correction

Dr. Swan provides free consultations for laser vision correction such as LASIK, LASEK, and PRK. If you are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism there are many options available to reduce or eliminate your dependence on glasses or contact lenses. Ask Dr. Swan if laser vision correction is an option for you. She is certified to co-manage with Pacific Laser Eye Center, and has many happy patients who have benefited from their services.

Computer Vision Care

Viewing a computer screen is different than reading a printed page, and Computer Vision Syndrome ( CVS ) describes a group of eye and vision-related problems that result from prolonged computer use. Symptoms such as eyestrain, headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes, and neck and shoulder pain can be caused by uncorrected vision problems and improper viewing distances. Special glasses made for the computer can be prescribed to help alleviate CVS, and Dr. Swan can make recommendations to help reduce computer – related eyestrain.
